Retreat
Your hillside home above Hokitika. Everything you need for an easy arrival and a beautifully relaxed stay is waiting here.
Arrival, access & check-in.
Everything for a smooth arrival is gathered here: the address, parking, access, arrival times and the final photo journey into Blue Spur.
Before you set off
Open the route while you still have a strong connection. If possible, arrive in daylight on your first visit so the rural turn-offs are easier to recognise.
Address, parking & front-door access
Mountain View Retreat
483D Hau Hau Road, Blue Spur 7811
Off-street parking is available in the driveway. Access is through the front door on the deck beside the driveway loop. Your access code is emailed the morning before arrival.
Check-in and check-out times
Check-in is anytime after 4:00 pm and check-out is before 10:00 am. If you would like an early check-in or late check-out, message us closer to your stay and we will do our best to accommodate it.
Food, milk & arriving later
We do not provide milk because everyone’s preference is different, so please pick up your favourite before arriving.
Restaurants in smaller West Coast towns often finish earlier, with the best dinner window generally between 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm. If you expect to arrive after 8:00 pm, consider dining first or collecting supplies from New World Hokitika, which is generally open until 9:00 pm.
Traffic and road conditions
West Coast weather and road conditions can change quickly. Check current conditions before setting out.

FAQs & useful extras.
The most common questions gathered together, so the practical details are easy to find without cluttering the rest of the manual.
Friends and family visiting
You are very welcome to spend time with local friends and family during your stay. Please let the Host’d team know in advance. Only registered guests are covered by booking-platform protection, so the reservation holder remains responsible for the home and everyone visiting it.
Rubbish, glass and recycling
General waste goes into the red bin. Collection is fortnightly, so please avoid filling the property bins with travel, car or event waste. Nappies and excess rubbish should be taken to public disposal bins or the recycling centre.
There is no kerbside recycling collection at the property. Separated recycling and glass can be taken to the Hau Hau Road Recycling Centre ↗ .
Barbecue hire
A barbecue is not kept permanently at the property, but a ready-to-use barbecue package may be available to hire.
Electric vehicles
You are welcome to use an ordinary household outlet with your own charging cable. A longer lead may help, as plug access is generally inside. A public charging station is also available at New World Hokitika.
Fresh linen and towels
Fresh hired linen and plush towels are included and prepared before arrival. Please do not wash them during your stay or before departure. Leave used towels together in the bathroom.
Lost property
Message us through your booking platform if you think you have left something behind. A photograph or clear description helps our team locate it. If found, the item can be returned using a prepaid, self-addressed envelope plus the applicable handling fee.
