You may be lucky enough to spot our resident weka during your stay. These curious characters are a native West Coast bird, sometimes fondly (and mistakenly) called the short-nosed kiwi. They’re clever, confident, and completely gorgeous.
As tempting as it may be, we kindly ask that you don’t feed or entice them. There are nests nearby and sometimes little babies about, and it’s important they stay wild and independent.
One small but important request: please don’t leave the ranch sliders wide open to the bedrooms or dining room when no one is inside. Weka are wonderfully bold, and if they wander indoors and get a fright, they tend to panic… and panic often comes with non-stop poos 😅
(Trust us — nobody wants a weka surprise on their pillow.)
So, admire them from a distance, enjoy their antics outdoors, and let them go about their business — wild, free, and fabulously cheeky.
Thank you for helping us look after both Enchanted and our feathered locals
Their attention to detail and commitment to quality truly stood out. We’ve already recommended them to others.
